Ducks and Cat

Lot's of stuff to report, so just sit back and enjoy,
First, apparently we now own ducks. Back around Easter time, my sister, without consulting anyone went out a bought a pair of ducklings. They were just "too cute," or something. She has been doing this sort of thing a lot lately, like how a few months earlier she found a kitten that was just "too cute" as well. Never mind that I was (supposedly) allergic to cats. Guess she forgot that I would eventually come home from college. Fortunately for me, I outgrew my cat allergy. Or maybe I never was allergic to them and the doctor who told me I was was a quack. Anyway, the cat (who she named "Jersey") I like, the cat is cool, but the ducks are annoying. They live in a little wooden house that she somehow convinced her boyfriend to build. They smell, they are scared of everything, and we have to constantly watch to make sure our dogs don't turn them into chew toys. I feel like I live in a petting zoo.

I finally got a summer job, unfortunately it is at the same place I worked before I went off to college. Bridgeway Care Center, a nursing home about 10 minutes from my house. I work in the kitchen as a "Dietary Aide." My job at college was in a kitchen too, I worked in the South Dining Hall as a cook. I can't figure out which job was better (or worse).

Pro's of Bridgeway:
Better pay - $8.25/hour, as opposed to the $5.75/hour back at college.
Shorter shifts - I only have to work the 3-hour dinner shift.
Free entertainment - Crazy old people are funny.

Con's of Bridgeway:
Almost no I work with there speaks fluent English.
The food we serve sucks.
I don't have a set schedule, so I never know what days I'm going to be working.
I have to wash dishes - at college, we had a dishwashing staff, so I never had to do that.
I have to deal with the Crazy old people - Yes, they are entertaining, much the way lions at the zoo are entertaining. Fun to watch, dangerous to feed.

Despite these minor inconveniences, summer is off to a good start. The days are going by too fast though. It would help if I could drag myself out of bed before noon. My brother and sister still have about two weeks of school left, and my mom and dad both work, so I have the house to myself for most of the day. But once the school year is over, everyone but my dad will be home all day. So I'm going to have to deal with my family all summer, which can be very distracting. It's hard to get any work done with all those people coming and going. Oh well, college is only 3 months away…
